Welcome to Agostino Music home of Duo Agostino, Raffaele and Janet Agostino, and the Sydney Guitar Trio. Janet and Raffaele have been playing guitar together for over 25 years, firstly as founding members of the Sydney Guitar Quartet and more recently in the Sydney Guitar Trio together with friend and colleague Richard Charlton.
They also make up Sydney's principal classical guitar duo "Duo Agostino".
Raffaele and Janet Agostino have been a prominent part of the Sydney guitar scene, through concerts, teaching, recordings and performing ensemble music with some of Sydney's leading musicians. As part of the Sydney Guitar Trio they have played extensively around Australia and overseas.
Janet and Raffaele have always had a special interest in guitar ensemble playing and are dedicated to the development of the guitar as a chamber music instrument. They have both been awarded life memberships by the Classical Guitar Society, Sydney, for their significant and sustained contribution.
Projects involving contemporary Australian guitar music have lead to Raffaele's release "Whispering from the Cedar Top", a solo album of works by Richard Charlton and Phillip Houghton, and the Sydney Guitar Trio's "One Hour to Madness and Joy", an album of contemporary works written for the Trio. All works on the "Whispering from the Cedar Top" are listed on the current AMEB syllabus.
Duo Agostino has recently released their new album "Under the Same Sky", including works from Richard Charlton, Phillip Houghton, Celso Machado, Maximo Diego Pujol, Ariel Ramirez, Leo Brouwer, and Turlough O'Carolan. This is Duo Agostino's first recording.
